Studying the bones of the hand

The hand is a complex and important part of the body that is essential for movement, grasping, and performing a wide variety of tasks. The anatomy of the hand includes several bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves that work together to provide strength, dexterity, and sensitivity.

 

Here is a list of all the bones in the hand:

  • Scaphoid bone: This bone is located near the base of the thumb.
  • Lunate bone: This bone is located near the center of the hand.
  • Triquetral bone: This bone is located near the center of the hand.
  • Pisiform bone: This bone is located near the center of the hand.
  • Hamate bone: This bone is located near the base of the pinky finger.
  • Capitate bone: This bone is located near the center of the hand.
  • Trapezoid bone: This bone is located near the base of the index finger.
  • Triquetral bone: This bone is located near the base of the middle finger.
  • Metacarpal bones: There are five metacarpal bones in the hand, one for each finger. The metacarpal bones form the hand and connect the fingers to the wrist.
  • Phalanges (finger bones): There are 14 phalanges in the hand, with three in each finger (except the thumb, which has two) and two in each thumb. The phalanges form the fingers and thumb.
